The defending champions were knocked out of the Rio Major without a single win.

FaZe came into the IEM Rio Major as the reigning champions and regarded as one of the favorites. They qualified directly for the Legends Stage of the competition thanks to their success at the Regional Major Ranking tournament and had their sights set on defending their crown.

FaZe bombed out of the Legends Stage with a 0-3 record

Things didn't quite go the way of Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen's men, however, as FaZe dropped their first two matches before a 1-2 defeat to Bad News Eagles ultimately sealed their fate and knocked them out from the Major with a 0-3 record. Their shock elimination marked the first time since Envy at MLG Columbus 2016 that the defending Major champions exited the competition without a single victory.
